I recently earned my Master's Degree in Education from Portland State University in addition to being licensed to teach English/Language Arts Grades 6-12 and Special Education in Oregon. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Teaching from the University of Montana, Go Griz!
Experience
I currently teach high school special education, where I focus on reading and writing enhancement, study skills/organization, and general core class assignment completion for a range of students and abilities. Previously, I've taught Honor's English 10, and I am very familiar with the IB curriculum and requirements. I enjoy working with students on the Autism Spectrum, those who have learning disabilities, and I can match most ADD/ADHD students stride for stride in addition to pushing and challenging TAG, IB, and AP students.

Hobbies
When people read "special education" they might get turned off and think, "not for my kid!" when really, my job is to just give struggling students different tools in order to be successful in their general education classes. Isn't that tutoring? I love working with young adults and the raw potential they are full of, even if sometimes they are also full of hot air and unbridled energy. The outdoors, hiking, biking, working out, and food, lots of food, are all my passions in addition to teaching.
